To remove indents that may be causing trouble, such as automatic lists or bulleting, use the key combination Alt Shift N to apply the Normal style, which will take everything back to the margin. Have the cursor anywhere in that paragraph, but no character, word or line should be highlighted, as the Normal style will only be applied to that element, if it is.
Indents for speech are inserted when using a speaker ID macro. If that indent is required from outdenting from another indent, then use Alt 5.
Use the key combination Alt 1 to indent quote; Alt 2 to outdent to the margin; or Alt 5 to outdent to indent for speech. Indent quotations are not contained within quotation marks.
Use Alt 3 for a question and Alt 4 for an answer. Each macro will add a paragraph followed by the question/answer notation followed by a dash followed by a hanging indent. When entering the first question or answer following, for example, a speech indent, enter a paragraph first. Following that, use the macro only to enter succeeding questions and answers.
For indents of record of interview-type quotations, use Ctrl Shift 3 for a numbered question and Ctrl Shift 4 for an answer.
Soft indents used with a tab character as text is required at the margin before the indent. Use Ctrl Enter to enter a manual line break if the indent is to maintained, further than the one provided, such as in an exhibit/MFI.
Exhibit/MFI macros contain form fields which are navigated by using Alt 8 for going to the next field and Alt 9 for going to a previous field from where your cursor is. The first field is active after an exhibit/MFI macro is run. Whatever is typed into the filed immediately replaces it.
Use Alt Shift 5 for evidence only Compensation Court transcripts.
Use Alt Shift 6 for extracts and all DDT transcripts.
Use Alt Shift 7 for MFI's.
Use Alt Shift 8 for long exhibit names, for example, in DDT matter a defendant's name may form part of the exhibit name itself, which may require the hanging indent to moved further to the right. If this is still not enough room, use Ctrl T to move the hanging indent by increments; a default of 1 centimetre.
After the first field (the exhibit identifier) is filled out, use Alt 8 to make the next filed active and so on for the third field. If a second line is not required, at the end of the first line, press the Delete key, then Alt 8 then Delete key, again, to remove the manual line break and remaining field.
Hanging indents for all questions of 1 cm left and .3 cm right are used: Alt Q.
